Our imaging capabilities include mobile CT scan digital radiography and ultrasound, allowing us to obtain detailed insights into your pet's internal health. These advanced diagnostic tools are invaluable in assessing a wide range of conditions, from orthopedic issues to internal organ function.
Importantly, we only recommend imaging procedures when they are clinically indicated, meaning that we base our decisions on your pet's specific symptoms, medical history, and our veterinarian's expertise. This ensures that each diagnostic procedure is purposeful and contributes to the accurate diagnosis and optimal treatment plan for your pet.

Keeping your pet comfortable during imaging
Many pets feel nervous in a new room, so our team works slowly and gently, uses soft padding, and talks to your pet throughout. Most X-rays take only a few minutes. If your pet is in pain or very anxious, your veterinarian may recommend light sedation so the images are clear and your pet stays relaxed. We will always explain the plan before we begin.
Who imaging is for
Imaging helps dogs and cats of every age when we need to see inside the body: limping and joint pain, coughing, vomiting, swallowed objects, belly swelling, lumps, and before or after surgery. X-rays are best for bones, the chest and many swallowed items; ultrasound shows soft organs such as the liver, kidneys, bladder and heart in detail.
What happens at the visit
- Your veterinarian examines your pet and decides which type of imaging will answer the question best.
- We explain the plan, including whether a fasting period or sedation is recommended.
- Our team gently positions your pet for digital X-rays or ultrasound while keeping them calm and comfortable.
- Your veterinarian reviews the images and shows you what they see.
- If needed, images are combined with lab work to build a full picture and treatment plan.
When imaging is recommended
Imaging is usually recommended when an exam or lab results point to a problem that needs a closer look, after an injury, during Emergency Care visits, and to monitor ongoing conditions over time. It is often paired with Annual Lab Work for a complete view of your pet's health.

Frequently asked questions
X-rays give a still picture that is best for bones, the chest and many swallowed objects. Ultrasound uses sound waves to show soft organs such as the liver, kidneys and bladder in real time. Your veterinarian may recommend one or both.
Many pets can have X-rays while awake with gentle handling. Sedation may be recommended if your pet is in pain, anxious, or needs to stay very still for clear images. We will discuss this with you first.
For an abdominal ultrasound, we usually ask you to hold food for several hours beforehand. A small patch of fur may be shaved for clear images. Our team will give you instructions when you book.
Digital images are ready quickly, and your veterinarian will often review them with you the same day. Some cases may need extra review, and we will tell you when to expect an update.
